Cost Savings & Benefits

No Down Time

Settled Solids Management, using our patented technology, will remove sand and grit from most wastewater treatment plants or tanks while the plant remains in service and full of water. This means no down time or interruption of plant personnel’s daily operation.

Lower Operating Costs

It has been proven that by removing the sand and grit from a wastewater treatment facility, plants have seen a 30% to 40% reduction in their operational power bill due to the reduction of air and blower times.
Sand and grit removal is the most inexpensive repair that can be made to a wastewater treatment facility to achieve greater effluent efficiency. The sand and grit in your wastewater plant does not have to be 2’ to 3’ deep covering the entire bottom of the tank to hinder the process. 1’ to 2’ along with rag buildup around the diffuser area is more than enough to have a hydraulic impact on the plant’s efficiency. This will require increased air and blower time and will assure higher electrical consumption

Longer Equipment Life

Sand, grit and rags is the leading cause of premature equipment failure to blowers, motors, belts, pumps, mixers and diffusers. By removing the sand and grit, you will assure your equipment a longer life and reduced down time.

Equipment running at 100% Efficiency and Volume

A properly operating plant operates as originally designed with 100% optimum effluent results. By removing the sand and grit, you restore the plant’s volume, increase detention time, increase the life of the plant’s filtering system, decrease the need for chemicals such as polymers and alums, decrease the need for additional labor and restore tank flow and treatment to its original design. Also by removing the sand and grit, the air transfer system (DO Transfer System) is at its maximum efficiency as designed by the professional engineers. NOTE: A cubic yard of sand accumulation represents 202 gallons of displaced volume.

Service is Tax Deductible and Qualifies as A Maintenance Expenditure

Sand removal is a necessary, but sometimes overlooked, part of maintaining a wastewater treatment facility. A clean and properly operating plant assures future generations a greater percentage of clean water.
